Easy and Fun Winter Craft with Veggie Straws

January and February are not my friends. Cabin fever hits and all of us can get pretty cranky around here. I am trying to find fun things to do and crafts are a huge part of our afternoon schedule while Finnegan naps. With us homeschooling I am also looking for crafts that go along with something that we are learning. Since we reading about gardening and growing our own vegetables, I thought of doing a easy and fun winter craft with Veggie Straws.

This craft is so easy to do! Grab some Veggie Straws from our local Walmart, string and scissors, and you are ready to create. The girls even at 8 and 7 had a fun time creating necklaces for themselves. Think candy necklace but without the candy! This craft is really good for any age!

We always have veggie straws in our house. First because it is one thing that Finnegan will actually eat (why must all my children be so picky?). Second because of how delicious they taste! Veggie Straws are vegan, non-GMO, and have no Trans fat or cholesterol. Also Veggie Straws have 30% less fat than chips, with no artificial flavors or preservatives. So it is definitely a snack I feel good about feeding my children!

Want to make this more a learning tool? This craft can be expanded to further your child’s learning. For younger children you can do color activities or counting activities. For older children you could do sight word practice, addition and subtraction, or even measurement practice. The possibilities are endless.

So go ahead, grab your Veggie Straws and play with your food!
