Woodland Party Theme

As Annaliese got closer to turning six, we had a long discussion about what theme she wanted for her party. It was a constant back and forth but finally the winner was chosen. She chose a woodland theme. Many ideas online for a woodland theme are for younger children. So we spent a lot of time looking and seeing what we could come up with to make it a great party.

While looking at ideas we came across many shops that sold deer ears. Annaliese wanted some but we were running out of time to buy any so I decided to try making some. It was not too difficult and I feel as though they turned out rather well. Once the ears were done, we did a little impromptu deer makeup and had a photo shoot.

The girls had a blast playing with the makeup and acting like they were deer!

I also love to make my own decorations. I find it fun and challenging. My husband thinks I should just buy them and forget about all the stress. But there is something about getting creative and putting in the time to make a party extra special. I ended up making two small fabric banners and painting pine cones, which you could click here for that quick tutorial!

It was so nice to see it all come together! I also printed out a deer and owl, taped them to fabric and placed them in frames for a quick and simple decor. I find it to be an enjoyable process to look at the materials around me and see what I can create and use for a party. For the cake I decided to make it myself (surprise, surprise) and went for a rustic look and dyed some coconut green to use for grass.

I try to keep the girls’ parties simple and thought a quick and easy craft would be fun for the kiddos to do. Going off on the woodland theme, I decided to get birdhouses for the girls to paint and decorate to their liking. They absolutely loved decorating them and getting to take them home.

It was such a joy to plan this party with Annaliese. She is quickly growing and it is so fun to see what each year brings. I hope you all enjoyed this!
