Mini-Getaway

There are not many times when my husband and I get away. Ok to be exact since Annaliese was born in 2010 we have never gotten away. Also in that amount of time we have only been on five dates. So you could say that this past weekend was definitely a much needed getaway.

There is no greater experience then spending time with my husband. However once children came into the mix, many times our relationship would be put on the back burner. It was never our intent. We continuously told ourselves that we needed “us” time. It just never happened. This was the perfect opportunity. In November we will celebrate our tenth anniversary. I cannot believe I have been married to this wonderful man for 10 years! Anyway, we decided to celebrate early while it was still warm out. The weekend was filled with our favorite things; dining out, shopping (ok my favorite thing), garage sales, exploring and most importantly each other. It is a completely different dynamic when children are not in the back seat. There was no interrupted conversations. There were moments of peaceful silence. There was no worrying about bedtimes and schedules. We were on our own. We could completely invest our time in each other. We could reflect on our ten beautiful years together, remembering the good times, remembering the struggles. It was a beautiful and memorable trip.

Here are a few pictures of our wonderful adventure! (With it being in the 90’s the quality was not real stellar!)
