What exactly does daylight savings do? Well twice a year I am told that I need to either fall back or spring forward an hour. I honestly have no idea what the purpose is for this inconvenience. Yes it is an inconvenience. I have no memory of this messing up my day or even week when I was younger. But when there are three children involved it is a different story. Daylight savings time is an evil and senseless plot to make my life miserable for days.
Just when I think I have found a rhythm to all this madness, it is time to change time. It usually begins the night before. On Saturday I begin to look at the clock and say to myself “well really it is four even though it says three”. This may possibly be a little obsessive on my part. Sheer panic sets in when it gets later at night. I begin to think that I should really go to bed an hour earlier so I do not lose sleep but who wants to go to bed early on a Saturday night?!? This particular year I thought I would be smarter than this evil plot and I went to bed at 10:30pm. Well with a newborn you never know just how much sleep you will actually get. So I prayed and hoped for a baby that would sleep through the night so that I would be well rested for the chaos that would occur. (This is where we all laugh and talk about the crazy lady hoping for a newborn to do this on a night that she wants). Plus our early bird girlie decided to sleep in spiraling our day into the mess that it was.
Everything was late. Late breakfast (which then turned into brunch). Late chores. Late dinner. Late bedtime. It is amazing how one little hour can do so much damage. I felt as though I was playing catch up and failing to succeed at the game.
It takes us longer than just a day to get adjusted to this time change. Usually by one in the afternoon the girls are both ready to take a break. However with the time change this is not what they want at one in the afternoon. They are still ready to go and seek adventure. This then ultimately messes up what the rest of the day, causing for everything to be late. Again. Both girls will act as though they were given a stimulant that causes fast moving, fast talking, and extreme irritability. It creates an unpleasant Monday. It will take the rest of the week to slowly create some sort of normalcy in our routine.
There is no point to daylight savings time. There is nothing beneficial that is created by this trickery. So thank you to whomever decided to make daylight savings time a thing. I believe whoever did, did so to create chaos in my life. This person probably lives in Arizona and is currently laughing at all of us for following such a senseless observance.

Ahh!! I am so feeling the pains from changing the clock! My son is not a great sleeper to begin with…change the clock and it makes it even worse!
Yeah it is such an adjustment when they are already not sleeping well!
Love this! Day light saving is a night mare!!! I too have been feeling “Late” all day!
Hahah they DEFINITELY live in AZ!
I agree!! They incorporated daylight savings time for farmers a long time ago, I think. At this point I am not a fan either. I’ve been dragging all day. Here’s to a good week!!

Hehehe…I totally used some choice words for the person who came up with daylight savings this morning.
haha yes they just know how to push our buttons!
I agree- it’s so confusing to me and totally unnecessary. Although I do like that it’s light later!
This is so true.I agree with the points that you say about daylight savings… 🙂
Thank you for reading!
It’s such a pain. I totally agree with you and I can’t even imagine what it’s like with kiddos!
I thought congress has talked about getting rid of it
I have heard that too!
It’s so frustrating! I have just gotten my daughter on a schedule finally and I am so worried what the change over will do to that!
We usually adapt pretty well, but the kiddos have been sick this weekend and this has been a really hard adjustment!
oh no! It is never fun with sick kiddos!
I was just talking to a friend about this! Daylight Saving is such a pain in the neck when you have kids at home. 🙁
Lol. Actually I did research on this for my own Daylight Savings Time rant that I have written. I could tell you but then the people from Arizona might have to kill me. Funny post. It does take weeks to get readjusted for me.
I will have to look up your post!
I hate daylight savings! We should just do away with it
Yep. You nailed it. This was pretty much our weekend too except my husband had to work in the morning (after closing the night before) and we had forgotten about daylight savings and only learned about it because of the alarm
Lol! I’ve always wondered what it does.

haha I think nothing!
It is annoying with children! There have been a few trials here in England where they have done a year without it and voted (over 40 years ago though) and found that there were a lot more fatalities on the roads with darker evenings so they kept it. Not sure what the reason is where you are though!
Oh wow that is so interesting! I cannot remembering the reasoning for it here but I find it pointless!
