As a third time mom I have given up on having a designated area to change Finnegan’s diaper. It is just not practical for me. Most of our days are spent either in the living room or my bedroom, so there has been no need to create a changing table in his bedroom. Since this was not going to happen I wanted to create something that I could easily move around with me and change his diaper anywhere I wanted. This may sound a little lazy but if I can cut a minute off of changing a diaper you better believe I am going to do it. This is why I decided to make a basket for all my diaper changing needs. It keeps everything in one place and I can easily move it from room to room if needed.
6 must have essentials
Diapers/wipes- the given essentials!
Burp cloth- I have one on hand in case of spit ups or bigger accidents a.k.a. Finnegan peeing on me.
Waterproof changing pad- I don’t know how many times I made the mistake of not having one of these around. Lesson learned.
Small toy(s)- With Finnegan becoming more mobile, it has been harder to keep him still. Usually a toy or two will keep him entertained long enough to get the job done.
Change of clothes- Accidents (extreme blow outs) happen.
Desitin Rapid Relief Cream- Any Desitin lovers out there? Cause it is my go to for easing and preventing diaper rash. Finnegan has had a horrible rash lately and Desitin is the only product that I have used that gives him instant relief and forms a protective barrier on his skin.
What is really nice is the girls seem to enjoy restocking the basket and even helping me change the diapers! They make sure the diapers are fully stocked, a clean burp cloth is in it, and the Desitin is ready to go. So I think this basket is a win/win for all of us.
Do you have a changing table or use something similar to a basket? Any other essentials that you keep close by? What is your go to for diaper rashes? Let me know in the comments.
Great post–I never would’ve thought of the toys thing until after my middle kid–it was like changing an octopus!!! lol!
It is becoming more difficult so it is vital to have something to occupy him!
What a great idea!
Thank you!
Love these ideas. When my two children were babies, I made sure Desitin was available all the time.
It is a life saver for diaper rashes!
I have a diaper station too! I’ve had it since my 2 1/2 year-old was a newborn. And I’m about to have another newborn!
It is just a more practical idea I believe! Congratulations!!!
How cute! Great idea!
Thank you!
