I think there is no denying that reading to your children is extremely important to their cognitive growth. From the moment your baby is born, reading to him/her stimulates interest in sounds and helps in developing listening skills. Plus it creates an opportunity to enhance the bonding time with your baby and displays that reading is fun and enjoyable. Since reading is such an important part of baby’s growth it is crucial to find the right books to fill up baby’s first library.
With me being a lover of books, I knew that reading would be an important part of my children’s lives. With both of my girls I started right away reading to them every book that we had. Years later I can see how much reading to them has had an effect on them. They get thrilled when they get a new book to read. Also some nights they stay up a little too late trying to finish the book that they are currently reading. Seeing the positive effects reading had on my girls it was obvious that I would do the same thing with Finnegan. He already at 13 months shows great interest at looking through books and loves cuddling up in bed to read our collection.
Building Finnegan’s library has been such a fun thing for me. I am always searching for beautifully written and illustrated books to fill his shelves with. That is why I am loving IncrediBundles. Beautifully curated book bundles that feature award winning books and toys for babies. Also each bundle is shipped in a sturdy and reusable storage box which has been great to tote the books we want to read from his room to the living room. I knew right away I wanted to get the Eric Carle book bundle. The girls had a few of his books when they were younger but throughout the years we have seemed to misplace them. Eric Carle’s books are wonderfully written and true classics for a baby’s library. This bundle included five of his most beloved board books and an adorable plus version of his classic character – The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
One added bonus is watching the bond between Finnegan and his sisters. The girls absolutely love to sit with him and read. It is fascinating to me to see the girls forming questions about what they are reading to ask Finnegan what he thinks. Even though he cannot express himself with words, he is learning that with reading comes discussion and with discussion comes knowledge.
That is a great collection of first books! We love to read too!!
